Abstract

The Problems due to Harmonics and reactive power loses has been pertaining from the decades. Since many methods are proposed to reduce those above mentioned problems. one of the best method is employing Active Filters for the elimination of Harmonics and compensation of reactive power problems . This paper mainly explains about the new AF technology and different topologies utilizing in the present scenario, economical approach etc for the improvement of power quality. Presently many countries has been using this AF technology, because of its capacity to eliminate the harmonics up to 2 5 th level & more and also size of filter is also reduced.
